Event Held to Showcase Zhuhai Fabrication Yard, the World’s Largest

Corporation (NYSE:FLR), with Offshore
Oil Engineering Co., Ltd. (COOEC), hosted the Deepwater and Modular
Fabrication Technology Conference on October 17 and 18, 2015, in Zhuhai,
China. Fluor and COOEC recently announced
a new joint venture, COOEC-Fluor Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. The joint
venture company will own, operate and manage the Zhuhai Fabrication Yard
on the South China Sea.
The event brought together more than 240 participants from national and
international oil companies, as well as government, finance, energy, and
contractor industry leaders from around the world to discuss the global
deepwater and modularization market. Participants discussed critical
topics such as project execution and optimization, quality control, risk
management and market conditions. The event concluded with a tour of the
state-of-the-art Zhuhai Fabrication Yard.
“The Zhuhai Fabrication Yard allows Fluor to deliver integrated
engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction projects of any
scale,” said Gerald Stone, senior vice president of Fluor and appointed
chairman of the board for COOEC-Fluor Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. “By
increasing efficiencies and leveraging the region’s low-cost supply
chain, the Zhuhai Fabrication Yard creates capital-efficient solutions
for Fluor clients across many markets and regions across the globe.”
At 2 million square meters, about 500 acres, the Zhuhai Fabrication Yard
is the largest in the world and was specifically designed for module
fabrication with optimized material flow and process sequencing. The
yard can accommodate modules weighing more than 50,000 tons, or 10
million pounds. Completion of regulatory approvals for the joint venture
is targeted for late 2015.
