Fluor announced today that the Houston Minority Supplier Development Council, Inc. (HMSDC) has recognized Fluor with its highest honor for corporations, the 2015 Corporate Commitment Award, for the second consecutive year. In addition, HMSDC honored Fluor with its 2015 Prime Supplier Award. Fluor was honored at The Rigel Awards Luncheon on Thursday, November 5.
“Program manager Annie Lidge has developed a full-fledged, proactive program that utilizes volunteers throughout our company to engage with diverse suppliers,” said Larry Bolander, Fluor vice president and advisory board chair of Fluor’s Supplier Diversity Program. “Without our program’s creative strategies, executive support and the partnership of strong, capable diverse suppliers and contractors, this award would not be possible.”

Dan Spinks, vice president and Houston office general manager; Annie Lidge, supplier diversity program manager; and Larry Bolander, vice president and supplier diversity program advisory board chair accept the HMSDC awards.
Fluor has committed more than $203 million to diverse suppliers in the United States to date in 2015. Through its Supplier Diversity Program, Fluor hosted How to do Business with Fluor seminars to educate more than 400 diverse, woman-owned and small business owners across the United States on how they can provide the most value in the industries Fluor serves. Fluor also hosted an international business symposium for more than 50 HMSDC members to discuss strategies and risk mitigations when working in the global marketplace, and has hosted events to introduce small and diverse businesses to Fluor procurement and contracting representatives.
The Corporate Commitment award is considered the HMSDC’s corporation of the year award and recognizes the major corporation or government agency that, in the opinion of the minority business owners, has best evidenced its commitment to minority business development. The Prime Supplier Award honors the corporation with the strongest commitment to minority business growth based on innovative strategies used to increase minority business enterprise (MBE) participation, expenditure patterns and development assistance.
