DEL-JEN, Inc. and AECOM Comprise Winning Team for Rock Island Arsenal
Fluor Corporation (NYSE: FLR) announced today that the U.S. Department
of Defense (DoD) selected Rock Island Integrated Services (RIIS), a
joint venture of DEL-JEN, Inc., a Fluor company, and AECOM, to perform
base operations support at the Rock Island Arsenal in Illinois, as well
as at six other locations in Illinois and Iowa. Rock Island is the
nation’s oldest government-owned weapons manufacturing arsenal. The RIIS
companies have worked at Rock Island since 1997, earning the
Occupational Excellence Achievement award for the past two years from
the National Safety Council. The estimated value of the follow-on
contract is approximately $109 million over five years. Fluor booked the
first year’s contract value into backlog in the third quarter 2012.
Additional contract values will be booked in subsequent years.

Fluor’s Government Group. “Rock Island is home to approximately 6,000
military, civilian and contractor personnel. It’s our responsibility to
ensure the base facilities and utilities continuously support this vital
defense installation.”
The contract’s scope includes public works support for the hydroelectric
plant; steam generating plant and natural gas boilers, facilities
engineering administration, water and sanitary sewage systems;
government bridge operations; electrical distribution systems; water
treatment and distribution, sanitary sewage and storm water drainage
systems, fire suppressant and alarm systems; buildings and structures;
roads and grounds; pest management and control; family housing; as well
as a variety of unscheduled services.
The majority of the work will occur at the Rock Island Arsenal main
base, a 946-acre island located on the Mississippi River between
Davenport, Iowa and Rock Island, Ill. The facility includes a military
family housing complex, the oldest swingspan bridge still in use on the
Mississippi River, and multiple historic sites such as the Rock Island
National Historic Cemetery, the Colonel Davenport House Museum, and the
Mississippi River Visitors Center.
