Garry Flowers Returns to Fluor’s Senior Management Team;
Long-Time Fluor Executive Dwayne Wilson Named New SRNS President and CEO
IRVING, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fluor Corporation (NYSE: FLR) announced today that the company has initiated a leadership change at Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS), LLC, a Fluor-led partnership that oversees the management and operating (M&O) contract for the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Savannah River Site near Aiken, S.C.
For the past two years, Garry Flowers has served as the president and chief executive officer (CEO) of SRNS and provided significant leadership on several key initiatives at the DOE Site. Flowers will return to Fluor’s Dallas headquarters as a member of the executive management team and be a direct report to CEO David Seaton. He will continue his leadership of the company’s corporate security; industrial relations; and health, safety and environment programs.
Dwayne Wilson, 31-year Fluor veteran and group president overseeing the company’s Mining & Metals and Manufacturing & Life Sciences business lines, has been named president and CEO of SRNS. Both management changes will be effective October 1, 2011, and the transition will begin immediately.
Bruce Stanski, president of Fluor Government Group, said, “Under Garry’s leadership over the last two years, our team at Savannah River has achieved numerous operational and safety milestones. Garry’s previous experience within Fluor was instrumental in marshalling the appropriate corporate resources and providing the right mix of project and strategic direction needed as the SRNS mission and workforce nearly doubled under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funding. Fluor’s performance on these high profile initiatives at Savannah River has truly helped bolster our reputation throughout the DOE complex.”
Under Flowers’ tenure at SRNS, the Fluor, Newport News and Honeywell team has achieved many notable milestones which include: executing ARRA-funded Cold War-era cleanup; improving operations at the Savannah River National Laboratory (SNRL); forging a relationship between SRS, SRNL and the business and engineering schools of the University of South Carolina; and accelerating the disposal schedule and disposition of transuranic nuclear wastes stored at the Site.
In detailing the leadership announcement, Stanski said, “The DOE expects the very best personnel resources from the three parent companies of SRNS. Dwayne Wilson is a proven leader with exceptional management and operational experience having led businesses in diverse markets. Placing Dwayne in this key leadership role further demonstrates Fluor’s continuing commitment to place our experienced executives in key positions to help SRNS meet DOE’s goal of achieving meaningful and sustainable mission growth at Savannah River.”
As president and CEO, Wilson will utilize his extensive industry and global leadership experience to help achieve the vision of growth for SRS. Wilson graduated from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and has completed graduate courses at Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business Management and Thunderbird Graduate School of International Management.
