Engineering and construction giant Fluor Corporation (NYSE: FLR) today
officially dedicated its new global corporate headquarters in Irving,
Texas. Elected officials, business and community leaders and Fluor
employees attended the ceremony.
"This is a historic day for Fluor and our employees," said Alan
Boeckmann, Chairman and CEO of Fluor Corporation. "Today, we dedicate
this building not only for those employees who are here now, but also
for all those who built up this great company over the years and for
those who will take it forward in the decades to come."
The official dedication had a decidedly Texas theme as Boeckmann was
joined by state and local elected officials to raise a horseshoe on the
new building, a time-honored Texas tradition.
"We chose the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex because of its proximity to
our clients and key financial and government centers, as well as access
to international destinations," continued Boeckmann. "Fluor is proud to
call D/FW home."
According to FORTUNE magazine, with Fluor's relocation to D/FW in 2006,
Texas now claims more FORTUNE 500 company headquarters than any other
state in the union, ahead of New York and California.
The build-to-suit corporate headquarters was constructed on a 26-acre
property located in the Las Colinas business district of Irving, Texas.
The 140,000-square-foot, three-story, dual-wing corporate building was
constructed in approximately eight months. Similar projects usually
require a 16-month timeline to complete.
"The fact that we were able to complete this impressive structure in
such a short time frame is a tribute to all of the members of our team
and the cooperation of the City of Irving," said Boeckmann.
The new facility includes premier amenities such as a commercial kitchen
and dining area, employee fitness center, 100-seat auditorium, multiple
meeting rooms, a "history walk" depicting Fluor's nearly century-long
history, three-story glass-enclosed atrium, two-story parking facility,
and high-end interior finishes, including custom millwork.
The building is constructed of concrete panels clad in natural Texas
limestone and was designed and built to meet the certification
requirements for the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy
and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System. The team
also worked to preserve as much natural vegetation and as many trees as
possible during the construction process.
Koll Development Company (KDC) served as the developer for the project;
Clayco was the contractor; Forum Studio Inc. designed the building; and
Gensler designed the interiors. In addition, the project design team
included Glenn Engineering, civil engineer; L.A. Fuess Partners Inc.,
structural engineer; and DFW Consulting Group, electrical and mechanical
engineer. Cushman & Wakefield served as the company's relocation site
evaluation consultant of record.
The new corporate headquarters, which houses approximately 180
employees, is located at 6700 Las Colinas Blvd, Irving, Texas, 75039.
The main telephone number is 469.398.7000 and main fax is 469.398.7255.
