Fluor Corporation (NYSE: FLR) today announced that it has been selected
by Canadian Natural Resources Limited to provide design services related
to a portion of the utilities and offsites of CNRL's Horizon Oil Sands
project located in the Fort McMurray region of northern Alberta. The
value of the award was not disclosed and was booked in Fluor's first
quarter.
Fluor will perform the engineering design specifications on the
project's utilities and offsite facilities including those related to
tankage, heat integration, flare and relief, electrical distribution,
cooling, piping and underground systems. The completed oil sands
facility will produce 232,000 barrels per day of synthetic light crude
oil to be fed to refineries in Canada and the United States. The project
is scheduled to be completed in three phases, with first oil in 2008 and
increasing production phased in over a five-year period.
