ALISO VIEJO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fluor Corporation (NYSE: FLR) today announced that the outstanding
performance of a joint Fluor and OMV Aktiengesellschaft project team on
two clean fuels projects in Austria has received the European
Construction Industry ACTIVE Project of the Year award. This important
award recognizes superior performance achieved through the practical
application of ECI ACTIVE (Achieving Competitiveness Through Innovation
and Value Enhancement) principles and value-enhancing practices.
Fluor's office in Haarlem, the Netherlands, provided engineering,
procurement, construction management and start-up supervision of two
clean fuel projects at OMV's refinery in Schwechat, Austria. OMV's
objective was to revamp and enhance the processing capability at the
refinery to produce diesel with a maximum of 8 parts per million of
sulphur, which is lower than the limit specified by European Union
environmental clean fuels legislation. Additionally, capacity was
increased by 1,000 tons of fuel per day.
From the start of these complex projects, Fluor and OMV worked closely
with subcontractors and vendors to meet or exceed all targets and goals.
Most importantly, 365,000 construction work hours at an operating
refinery were executed safely and without serious accident or lost-time
incident. Completed ahead of schedule and seven percent below budget,
the plant's process performance parameters also were met or exceeded.
