Fluor Corporation (NYSE: FLR), today announced that it has been awarded
a contract by ChevronTexaco to provide front-end engineering and design
services for its proposed Multifacility Offshore Liquefied Natural Gas
(LNG) Regasification programs in the Gulf of Mexico and Baja,
California. The contract amount was not disclosed.
Fluor will perform the preliminary design and engineering of the
topsides facilities, including tanker offloading equipment, vaporizers,
piping, and related utilities and support systems, for several LNG
receiving terminals, beginning with the Port Pelican LNG receiving and
regasification terminal off the Louisiana coast. Natural gas from the
Port Pelican facility will be used for power generation, industrial and
residential markets in the United States.
