Fluor Corporation (NYSE: FLR) today announced that it has been chosen to
perform engineering, procurement and construction services on a refinery
upgrade project in Ferndale, Wash. Awarded by Phillips Petroleum Company
and booked in the second quarter of 2002, the contract's value was not
disclosed.
In compliance with the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) new
regulations initiating the production of cleaner gasoline, the upgrade
calls for the installation of a Cat Gasoline Desulfurizer Unit, that
will utilize Phillips' S Zorb(TM) sulfur removal technology, and the
revamp of an existing gasoline splitter unit.
Project engineering began in June 2002 and construction is scheduled to
commence in October 2002. The project is scheduled to be completed in
the fourth quarter of 2003.
